There are so many pieces of the jigsaw puzzle when trying to build a well resourced and impactful social enterprise…
Over the last three years the daily grind has been focused around refining the social impact of our very environmental impact focused organisation. We’ve been perfecting our approach to teaching, and tackling loneliness and social isolation… some time consuming pieces of the jigsaw puzzle to work out.
So it’s been beautiful over the last couple of months to have some of the missing pieces of the jigsaw puzzle provided through really humbling moments of acknowledgment. This is the first of two posts sharing gratitude and excitement for how the next chapter of our Precious Plastic East project is taking shape.
On Tuesday morning we welcomed Marvianti, Andrea and Emily to the Wastesmiths CIC workshop to thank them for some invaluable equipment that Seaway7 and Boskalis have contributed to our work. We are now proud owners of a PlasTell from Matoha an injection mini from Sustainable Design Studio and a power bank from Jackery.
These useful things are going to open up some incredible opportunities. We can now do injection moulding with young people when we pop up at Market Gates, or test plastic types at beach cleans on Yarmouth beach. We can take plastic education to the people rather than expecting them to come and find us.
This is so transformative! We have always found we can have the most perspective changing conversations when out and about where people are… and so now we can draw people in with our Litter Arcade and then get them identifying different types of plastic and injection moulding something out of their own litter there and then. This is what the Precious Plastic community is all about.
Social enterprises are built on a belief that we can make a difference to the world around us, and graft to get the offer right. So it’s reassuring when others can see you’re making a difference… and offer some crucial bits of the jigsaw puzzle to complete the picture.
