HHMI or AI

A lot has changed over the last three years since we first typed “wastesmiths” into Google…

Back then the word “wastesmiths” was an antegooglewhackblatt, meaning it didn’t return a single search result. Three years later, Google is offering us an AI Overview of what “wastesmiths” is. It’s nice to know we exist, and the overview is pretty accurate to be honest. We enjoyed how explicit it was that we didn’t distribute profits to shareholders.

One of the most rewarding things from the last year, as we cruised past our third birthday, was starting to understand how others see us and what they appreciate about us. No what AI parrots, but what our actual community enjoys about having a relationship with our projects, events and general wastesmithing shenanigans.

When we first started out we were some people with an idea and a workshop containing some machines and a whole lot of waste materials. Now as we charge into our forth year we can see that our purposeful activity reducing human waste in the environment also has a social impact, and that feels incredible to acknowledge.

Antegooglewhackblatts and AI Overviews can be stimulating distractions at the best of times… however we love that our community calls itself our very own hive mind. I’d take our Tuesday morning very human hive mind intelligence (HHMI) over AI any day of the week!
