One of our most exciting and most anticipated projects is about to start taking shape in Mile Cross over the coming few months. This project combines our love of waste and weeds, while being rooted in the principle of seeking to grow something new out of the skills and resources that are already in our neighbourhood.
Starting on 1st July we’re going to be inviting the people of Mile Cross to contribute to our plan to build a set of new planters for the area. You can contribute lids that will become the beams of the planters, and you can also offer helping hands, skills with the build or knowledge that may help us plant them up. However don’t worry about needing any experience. Our Precious Plastic East project will be guiding the process.
The first Wednesday at 185 Drayton Road will be an opportunity to find out more. The wonderful The Common Lot will be hosting one of our big orange bins so you can collect and drop off your plastic lids with ease, and the fabulous MX Green Hearts are going to help us find the perfect locations for them. None of this would be possible without a bit of collaboration and these extraordinary partners. Our dream is to populate the process of making a planter with incredible people so that we can populate a bunch of new planters with lots of pollinator friendly plants.
So come see us on Wednesday 1st July between 1.30pm and 3.30pm to find out more and start collecting your soft drink bottle lids to contribute to a beam. There will then be sessions on 15th July and 12th August to get involved with the planter build.
