Vision, mission and values

Who are we?

Wastesmiths is a community of people who hate human waste ending up in the environment. Wastesmith’s community is a creative community and so its approaches to tackling human waste in the environment are innovative and wide ranging, running projects that focus on plastic, clothing and growing natural resources for arts and crafts.

Wastesmiths is a social enterprise and community business set up as a Community Interest Company. It operates for purpose rather than profit, has an asset lock, and reinvests any surplus into achieving its vision through the actions outlined in its mission.

We are a Living Wage Foundation employer and are in the process of developing working groups around all of our projects to guide what we do as a community.

Company objects change

In February 2025 the Directors of Wastesmiths C.I.C. met to review the objects of the company. Our company’s objects are the commitments that our company makes and registers with Companies House. They outline who our company seeks to benefit and how our company will seek to create benefit.

The central change in our new objects adopted in March 2025 is a broadening of the community we seek to benefit from Great Yarmouth to the residents of the east of England, as our work starts to grow in Norwich and Aylsham. We’ve also broadened our activities to focus less on plastic to more broadly encompass textiles and plant-based practices too. Read our updated company objects below:
